RDES are conducting development work associated with a small scale wind farm development at Cnoc Cailliche (NJ 476262) on behalf of Mr John Wilson, a farmer looking to diversify into the renewable energy industry. The installation of two Vestas V52 850 kW wind turbines has been assessed. An initial feasibility of the site has been carried out, providing a preliminary analysis of the following:

• The wind resource
• Basic turbine options and balance of plant requirements
• Energy generation analysis
• Financial benefits of the project
• Preliminary environmental survey

RDES are now proceeding further with the development work associated with the project. A wind monitoring mast planning application has been submitted to Aberdeenshire Council with consent anticipated in April 2007. Further environmental work scheduled for 2007 is ongoing, with the view of submitting a planning application for the project.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2008 / early 2009.
