Tomatin

Tomatin is a domestic micro hydro project close to Inverness which is being developed by a homeowner with a small burn on his land. RDES are developing the project from conception to completion. Initial design advice was given and subsequent more detailed economic assessments were carried out. This work was followed by a site survey and detailed design for a 10 kW medium head scheme using a Pelton turbine.

• Planning permission, grid connection agreement and water abstraction licenses have been obtained.  
• An order for the components has been placed and RDES will install the system in summer 2007.
