RD Energy Solutions is proud to announce the launch of our new anemometer and data logger package. The anemometer features a LCD touch screen, which displays instantaneous wind speed, direction and a data logger.

Wind monitoring is an invaluable tool for determining your sites suitability for wind development, as it records not only wind speeds over a period, but also the prevailing direction. This ensures that any wind development can be made with optimal exposure to prevailing winds.
We recommend that home owners/business whom have only a marginal wind resource available complete at least 6 months of monitoring with an anemometer. This enables the client to make a more reliable estimation of the generation potential and the payback period of any investment in a micro-wind turbine, and obviously it represents a much smaller investment in comparison to the purchase of a wind turbine.
The anemometer, complete with data-logger, LCD display, mounting bracket and software is available at £99.95 + postage. For further information, please contact Richard Feenan.

RD Energy Solutions has recently completed work on UK’s first 5-star near zero carbon home at the BRE project, Watford. The home, constructed by Stuart Milne Timber Systems, features an innovative design which has incorporated closed panel insulation, energy efficient lighting/appliances, and grey water recycling. Collectively, these measures have delivered a 100% energy performance beyond current building regulations. The house is powered by a solar PV system and three SWIFT wind turbines, which is further supplemented by a solar thermal system for the hot water supply. This project has set the benchmark for sustainable housing, and also created the opportunity for a large scale development based on its design.

RD Energy Solutions have recently been appointed as project managers to develop a low head, 50kW hydro site at Strathclyde Loch near Motherwell. The scheme will generate power to be used on site at the local water sports centre with the excess exported to the grid.
The scheme is being developed by North Lanarkshire Council as part of their global footprint programme which aims to reduce the environmental impact of the entire council area.
RDES have completed a pre-feasibility study for the site and are currently carrying out environmental consultations prior to submitting a planning application.
